Do counts confuse you? Are you always the one clapping off-beat? Do you feel like you're fighting your music instead of dancing to it? Don't worry, you aren't alone. No matter what your dance style or experience level learning the basics of music theory will help make you a well-rounded dancer & let you move fluently through choreography or improv. In this workshop we will learn the basic units of music & how they are put together, look at basic song structure, how to identify & dance with both Middle Eastern & Popular music, & map out a song for choreography or improvisation. Thie goal of this workshop is to help you understand & interpret music, no musical experience necessary & no instruments needed. This workshop is part lecture part dance so make sure to bring a notebook & pen.

This workshop is hosted by & held at American BellyDance Studio in Lutz. Amani teaches several classes at American BellyDance Studio throughout the week, more information available upon request.
